[edit] General
Apple offers a tangible plastic Gift Card avaiable in denomination of $15, $25, and $50 good towards any purchase on the iTunes Store. iTunes gift certificate is the digital version of the gift card and is available in various denomination. iTunes Gift Card is not redeemable at Apple Stores.
iTunes Gift Cards have a strange resale value due to non-U.S. residents purchasing U.S. redeemable gift cards for higher than its face value partially because it is cheaper than purchasing content from home country's iTune Stores due to taxes, such as VAT. Non-U.S. residents typically find a way to create an iTunes Store account that indicates they are residing in the U.S., which allows them to use U.S. redeemable gift cards[1].
